The love of the Irish

Irish language poster, gra means love in Irish

Each year, all across the world St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated by those that are Irish and those that want to express the love the the Irish.

Who was St. Patrick?

St. Patrick is the Patron Saint of Ireland. He is known as the person that banished snakes from Ireland. He is synonymous with Ireland and being Irish.

St. Patrick’s Day is a celebration of Ireland and what it means to be Irish. People march in brightly coloured parades and Irish music and dancing are enjoyed by all.

The Irish language

Do you know that there is an Irish language, called Gaeilge? Irish is spoken in many parts of the country and is taught in the majority of schools. Irish people are proud of their language and you will notice signs around the country that show the way in both Irish and English.

Gra means love in Irish, or as we say ‘as gaeilge’.

Love of the Irish…

The Irish are known as a friendly bunch of people, that love to have the craic (fun) and spread gra (love) wherever they go.

To celebrate St. Patrick’s Day and to add some Irish language to your home, we’ve created a simple, stylish A4 size poster for you. You can download the poster, print it and frame it.

Wedding Trends 2019, Part 1

Wedding Trends 2019

2019 will bring new Wedding Trends and extensions and embellishments on existing Wedding Trends from 2018.

Custom Monograms

Every couple wants to make their day unique and what better way to do so than to create your own custom monogram. You can do this by either incorporating both of your initials or by using your new family surname initial. Custom monograms will not only be spotted on top of the Wedding Cake but will be included on items like handkerchiefs, Wedding Stationery , Wedding Decor and candles.

Wedding Stationery

We have created a range of modern Wedding Stationery with an Industrial Style custom monogram. The range is called Ma Vie (My Life) and features a combination of the couples’ first initials with the year they are getting married.

Wedding Wire have put together a fabulous list of Wedding Tips. Of course, they have included a section on Invitation Stationery trends. Some of our favourites from their list are:

  • Geometric graphics
  • Wreaths and floral hoops and
  • OTT envelopes

We love these wedding stationery trends and will be delighted to work with you to incorporate them into your wedding invitation design! Contact us to discuss your Wedding Stationery.

Handkerchiefs

A beautiful keepsake for your day is an embroidered handkerchief. You could get matching ones for both you and your new husband to be. Another beautiful idea is an embroidered handkerchief for your Mum to remember your big day. My sister got one for my Mum and I know it will be treasured forever.

Cake Topper

Custom monogram cake toppers can be made to match your Wedding Stationery, there are a fantastic range available in materials from plastic to metal and wood. There are so many styles available on Etsy and Pinterest, as always though it’s nice to source locally.

Opulent Cakes

2019 will bring more and more opulent cakes including additions like:

  • personalised monograms
  • metallic touches, and
  • regal piping

Personalised Monograms

Custom monograms will be seen as cake toppers but also incorporated onto the cake itself. Sugar leaves, icing and foiling will all be very popular additions to wedding cakes this year as a way to add monograms.

Metallic Touches

Metallic touches will be seen throughout the wedding decor. We will see a move away from pretty pastels with a bigger focus on gold and silver. Rose gold was a large focus over the past few years but silver will shine in 2019.

Metallic touches will be reflected in the spaces that couples choose for their venue. Industrial spaces will be popular with a move indoors and away from the ever-popular ‘Rustic Outdoors’ which was so very popular in 2018.

In line with a move towards more industrial style spaces, our Ma Vie Wedding Stationery range ties in perfectly with this style, including a custom monogram with an edgy style.

Regal Piping

2018 was a wonderful year for a rustic style wedding but regal piping will be popular this year and feature on many opulent wedding cakes. Tall cakes with detailed icing will be on trend and spotted at many Wedding Venues throughout 2019.

Scent your Wedding

One accessory we expect to see an increase in during 2019 is candles. Scenting your wedding will be a big Wedding Trend in 2019.

A Scent to Remember

Scents evoke memories and what better way for you and your new husband to remember your special day than to have a candle scent which brings back all those special memories. You could look at creating your own wedding scent or use one that you already love. Candles can be included in your dressing area, at the Church and on the tables throughout the reception. The uniform scent will remind people of your wonderful Wedding Day.

Scented Favours

An extension of this idea is to gift your guests and bridal party a Wedding Favour of a candle with your wedding day scent. This special gift is something that will be used again and again and your Day will leave a lasting memory in their homes too.

Next up is Wedding Trends 2019, part 2. Expect part 2 to include trends such as:

  • Circular arches and floral installations
  • Simple dresses
  • Banquet and grazing tables, and
  • Bright, block colours

Until next time, Happy Wedding Planning…
