Set the Tone with a Classic Design

Kilshane House is renowned for its timeless beauty. Built in 1822, it features breathtaking architecture, a conservatory that feels like stepping into a romantic era, and sprawling gardens. To capture this essence, consider wedding invitations that embrace classic, elegant design elements:

  • Neutral Color Palettes: Soft whites, creams, and gold accents evoke the sophistication of the venue. These colors mirror the refined interiors and stunning grounds of Kilshane House.
  • Calligraphy and Elegant Fonts: Opt for traditional fonts like serif or a hand-lettered calligraphy style. This adds a personal touch while maintaining an old-world charm.
  • Foil Press Printing: High-quality printing techniques such as foil pressing, embossing or letterpress can give your invitations a tactile elegance that matches the venue’s luxurious atmosphere.

Incorporate the Natural Beauty of the Grounds

Kilshane House is as much about the natural surroundings as it is about the architecture. From its lush gardens to the peaceful lake, nature is an essential part of its charm. Consider incorporating botanical or nature-inspired elements into your invitations:

  • Floral Illustrations: Use illustrations of local flora, like Irish wildflowers, or designs that nod to Kilshane’s gardens, like acorns.
  • Earthy Tones: Beyond the neutral palette, you can incorporate natural tones like soft greens, dusty blues, or warm blushes to bring the outdoors into your design.
  • Wax Seals and Ribbons: Tying your invitation suite with silk ribbons or using wax seals with a botanical motif adds a touch of rustic romance, perfect for a venue that feels both opulent and natural.

Add Personal Touches to Reflect Your Love Story

Kilshane House offers an intimate yet grand setting, and your invitations should reflect your unique love story. Personaliwe your invitations to make them meaningful and distinctive:

  • Custom Venue Illustrations: Include an illustration of Kilshane House, featuring its iconic conservatory or the beautiful facade. This not only adds a personal touch but also introduces your guests to the stunning venue they’ll soon be visiting.
  • Monograms or Family Crests: Incorporating a custom monogram or, if appropriate, a family crest adds a regal and traditional element that aligns with the historic nature of Kilshane House.

Practical Information for Guests Traveling to Kilshane House

Because Kilshane House is tucked away in the serene countryside, some of your guests may not be familiar with the area. It’s essential to provide them with clear and thoughtful details:

  • Travel Directions: Include a map or a detailed description of how to get to the venue. You can also create a custom wedding website with GPS coordinates and travel tips, especially for guests traveling from abroad.
  • Accommodation Options: Provide information about nearby hotels, guesthouses, or the possibility of staying at Kilshane itself if your wedding package allows. Guests will appreciate knowing about local amenities in advance.
  • Itinerary for the Day: A small schedule of the ceremony, reception, and any other activities planned at Kilshane House can be included as part of the invitation suite, especially if the celebrations will take place over several days.

5 Reasons to have a Midweek Wedding

5 reasons to have a midweek wedding

Which Couple are you?

Whether you are the covid couple or the newly engaged couple – let’s look at 5 great reasons to have a midweek wedding in 2021.

The Covid Couple

Scenario number one – it’s 2020 and you are told you must postpone your wedding day to 2021 – every plan that you had, every detail that you spent months thinking about feels like it is gone out the window! You become the covid couple. This was not your wedding plan but you have no choice but to adjust.

2021 Wedding Card

The newly engaged 2020 couple

The second scenario makes you just as anxious. It’s 2020 and it’s your year to get engaged, your turn to be excited and start planning the wedding of your dreams. You plan to get married in 2021 but so does everybody else who was meant to get married in 2020. You feel rushed to make decisions because time and availability is in short supply.

Our Day Wedding Day Card

1. Availability

The majority of couples choose a weekend wedding. Traditionally it makes sense. You take time off work that week, you finish your wedding preparations, your friends and family have the weekend off and you can all celebrate together. But the problem is there are only 52 weekends a year which means that in 2021, the wedding venue of your dreams may not be available on a Friday or Saturday night.

Why not choose a week-day? You have the choice to go against tradition. If you choose a midweek wedding you have a higher chance of securing your lusted after wedding venue and although you are asking your friends and family to take time off work, most people don’t mind that. You are asking them to take 1 or 2 days off work and if you choose a Thursday you can extend your wedding celebration through the weekend. When you consider that lots of people gladly attend destination weddings, which means at times a week off work, you know they will understand if your wedding takes place in the middle of the week.

2. Your Day Your Way

During your wedding day planning you’ve browsed instagram and pinterest – you’ve found the wedding suppliers of your dreams – but often they are not available during the weekend or just too expensive for your budget. Having a midweek wedding allows you to have your day your way, those suppliers that you love will more likely be available. Also consider those extra touches that you couldn’t afford, they find a place in your budget because everything costs less for a midweek wedding. All of a sudden your pinterest wedding starts to become a reality!

3. Cost

Almost every single wedding supplier will cost less for a midweek wedding. The reason being they have more availability during the week. From your wedding venue to your wedding planner and even your wedding band – expect to pay less for most suppliers. The money that you save can be spent on a honeymoon, or maybe go towards your house deposit. You can still have your dream wedding but at a reduced cost and the only difference is that it’s a midweek wedding.

Also consider your guests, although you are asking them to take time off work – they too can expect your wedding to cost them less. It is likely that your wedding venue will offer your guests advantageous room rates because your wedding is on a weekday rather than the weekend.

4. The Small Wedding

Maybe after your wedding was postponed you decided to have a small wedding, instead of a large wedding event. If this is the case there are so many venues that are open to you midweek. You can have a more bespoke wedding in a boutique venue with your most treasured family and friends by your side. You can celebrate your love in an intimate setting with your closes loved ones there to share in your special day.

5. Generosity of Time

Having a midweek wedding means your suppliers have more time, to spend with you and on your wedding. They most likely don’t have other weddings to think about that day and have more time to spend chatting, relaxing and enjoying time with you, sharing in your day and make sure it is the day of your dreams. Think about makeup, hair, photographer and celebrant and how more time with them will make your day even better!

How to choose your Wedding Invitation Wording

How to Choose your Wedding Invitation Wording

Yay you’re getting married and you’ve started looking at wedding invitations… then you realise there are so many different wording options. Let’s chat about the different options for wedding invitation wording and I’ll give you some samples. Let’s look at what you need to consider.

Who is hosting the wedding?

When you consider wedding invitation wording samples, first think about who is hosting the wedding. The bride and groom, the brides parents, the grooms parents, both sets of parents, or it can be anybody else you want to include.

Sample of wedding invitation wording:

  1. {Bride’s Name} and {Groom’s Name} are getting married. This is an example of wedding invitation wording casual and is used when the couple are hosting. Check out the Emily Collection for this example wording.
  2. {Bride’s Name} and {Groom’s Name} together with their families invite you to celebrate their marriage. Check out the Alexandra and Pippa Collections for this example wording
  3. Together with their families {Bride’s Name} and {Groom’s Name} invite you to celebrate their marriage. Check out the Sara Collection for this example wording.
  4. Mr and Mrs {Father of the Bride’s Name} request the honour of your presence at the marriage of their daughter {Bride’s Name} to {Groom’s Name}. This is an example of wedding invitation wording formal and is used when the parents are hosting the wedding. Check out the Petite Fleur Collection for this example wording.

Names of the Couple

There is formal wedding invitation wording etiquette but depending on the style of your wedding will decide is this is right for you or not. Traditionally the bride’s name is printed first but you can go against tradition and print the groom’s name first. For same sex marriages you have the choice of who you want to choose to print first – many couples choose whichever they think sounds best for both of their names.

The location of the wedding

Always include the location of the ceremony, traditionally the full address would be included but it is now acceptable to include the ceremony location name and the general area as people can find the location themselves.

The Date and Times

You can choose the formal style of wording by including the full date and time or you can mix it up with full text writing, for example TWENTY SECOND OF APRIL or using roman numerals is another very elegant idea.

Reception Details

The format for the reception details follows a similar style to the ceremony location. You should include the name of the location and either it’s full address or it’s general location address. Be sure to also include the time the reception starts at and the expected finish time.

RSVP details

You have a few options when it comes to rsvp wedding invitation wording. Many couples choose an RSVP card which goes out with an addressed envelope with their invitation. The second option is to include the RSVP details on the bottom of the invitation or the third option is to include the RSVP website details on a details insert card. Whichever you choose is up to you and all are totally acceptable ways of including your RSVP details.

Details Cards

The details card can include many items of information, some of which I’ve listed below. Have a think about the most important information you want your guests to know and include this on the wedding details card. The wording of your wedding details card can include items like those listed below.

  • Inviting children
  • Accommodation
  • Directions
  • Gift List
  • Website RSVP
  • Dress Code
  • Dietary Requirements
  • Transportation

There are many options for wedding invitation wording and you will find the one that matches your style best, as a couple and for your wedding. Never worry if your wording is different to someone else’s as there is no right or wrong, there’s just you and your wedding! For more wedding inspiration check out my instagram page.
